A post on my sister in laws blog regarding her husband/my brother and some of my dear husband's recent actions inspired me to put my degrees in sociology, psychology and anthropology to work. I have a theory that when men get married, they lose certain abilities. For example, my husband no longer has the ability to find things and it's not because these things are hidden in hard to find places. It's really quite an amazing phenomenon to observe. The remote control can be sitting on his lap but yet rather than looking down on his lap to see if the remote is there, he'll call me into the living room and say "honey, where's the remote?"
Another common phenomenon in married men is the onset of hypochondria. Any cold or mild fever becomes life threatening and requires the man to stay in bed for long periods of time. However, when the female spouse contracts the same illness she is limited in the time she can spend resting in said bed and must still watch the children, run the household and make all meals for the family.
I love my husband dearly but it's been a tough week. I have a sinus infection and have been feeling pretty cruddy. On a positive note, if I decide to go to grad school, I now have a topic for my thesis!
